Lorenzo Ginovés

Brief Biography

The only definitive mention there is for expeditionary Lorenzo Ginovés is the 1540 muster where he is listed as a footman. There are several different individuals with the name Lorenzo Ginovés in New Spain at the time of the Expedition and none of the documentary evidence clearly refers to the expeditionary. Given his last name of Ginovés he may be a native of Genoa, Italy. There are references to other Lorenzo Ginovéses who are from Genoa. It doesn't seem likely that the conqueror of Mexico with Cortés would be only a footman on the Coronado Expedition.
