Francisco Hernández de Arriba

Brief Biography

Francisco Hernández de Arriba was not present at the 1540 muster. However, he did act as a witness for expeditionary Alonso de Saavedra in Quito in 1583. In this document we learned that he was a member of the Expedition and that he was born around 1503, making him one of the oldest expeditionaries at thirty-seven years old. He could not sign his name, but did have a rubric that he used as his signature.
