Andrés Orejón was not present at the 1540 muster, but he stated in 1547 that he was a native of Ávila (Ávila province) and that he participated in the expedition, probably as a horseman. Because Andrés stated that he also served in the Mixtón War, it is probable that he was one of the earlier returnees from Tierra Nueva. His parents were Rodrigo Orejón and Ana Vázques de Ávila. When Andrés came to New Spain in 1536, he left his wife and family behind in Spain.
