Alonso de Valderey/Valderreina was not present at the 1540 muster. He later testified that he did participate in the Expedition. Alonso seemed perfectly fine calling himself Valderey or Valderreina, perhaps changing his allegiance to whichever monarch was in power. He was a native of Astorga (León province) and the son of Alonso de Valderrey and Leonor Alonso. Alonso was one of the oldest expeditionaries at age 38.
