Andrés, indio

Brief Biography

The indios amigos were not listed on the 1540 muster but many were present. They also rarely appear as individuals in the documentary record. Andrés was a native of Coyoacán (Federal District of Mexico) and along with Gaspar and Antón, was encountered by the Espejo expedition of 1583 living at the Zuni Pueblo of Halona in western New Mexico. They were just some of the central Mexican Natives who remained behind when the Expedition returned to New Spain.
