Luisa, india

Brief Biography

The indios amigos were not listed on the 1540 muster but many were present. They also rarely appear as individuals in the documentary record. Luisa was one of the few women mentioned by name in the documentary record. She was possibly a native of Culiacán (State of Sinaloa) and acted as an interpreter on the Expedition. At some point on the Expedition's return to Mexico City, Luisa fled.
