Brief Biography

The indios amigos were not listed on the 1540 muster but many were present. They also rarely appear as individuals in the documentary record. Sebastián was a native of Zapotlán (State of Jalisco). He was a lay brother and remained in Quivira with fray Juan de Padilla until he fled with expeditionary Andrés del Campo.
