don Diego de Guevara

Brief Biography: 
Don Diego de Guevara was born about 1520 in Escalante:Trasmiera, Cantabria province to don Juan de Guevara and doña Ana de Tovar. Don Diego may have accompanied his relative Viceroy Mendoza to New Spain in 1535 as a member of the viceroy's personal guard, or he may have already been in New Spain by 1531 and participated in Guzmán's conquest of Nueva Galicia. He participated in the Expedition as a captain. After the return of the Expedition to Mexico City, he held several governmental posts and died in 1564.
